Candy WangIt’s the old story of East meets West but with a modern twist. Shanghai born actress Candy Wang, who has starred in several films that are big hits in Asia, is looking to cross over to US audiences.

To that end, Wang and director Alice Wang (no relation except a professional one) recently visited LA and Las Vegas to solidify some global connections and to make some new ones.

They attended the FAME Awards in Vegas and Generosity.org’s fundraiser for World Water Day at the Montage Hotel in Beverly Hills.

Publicist Roger Neal hosted a luncheon for them at Spago in Beverly Hills where Ms. Wang talked about her newest projects.

She is rapidly becoming a multifaceted brand.

In addition to the upcoming film  “Reversing an Exciting Life” from Desert Rock Entertainment and Alice Wang’s Taiwan-based Datang International Entertainment, the 24-year old actress has also launched a skincare line called “Candy,” with seaweed revitalizing facial masks and more products in the pipeline.

Wang is featured in the newly published photo book, “Candy,” showing her in a variety of settings.

She’s also a performer who’s just released a CD—her second album – called “Peach Blossom Ode.” It includes the new single “You Are Number One.”

Wang closely follows American entertainment and named her favorite actor, Leonardo DiCaprio as an inspiration. But as for whom she’d like to costar with in a film, that honor went to Josh Hutcherson of “Hunger Games” fame. Or maybe Ansel Elgort.
