Spike Lee would soon go on to win his very first Academy Award, but a few days before the Oscars he was already collecting kudos– not to mention a bunch of other goodies– at GBK’s pre-Oscars luxury lounge.

The two-day event for a select group of nominees, presenters and VIPs was held in a stunning two-story space, St. Supery by Chanel, in the heart of the famed shopping district on Rodeo Drive.

Spike Lee Lee wasn’t the only nominee in attendance who would go on to win the entertainment industry’s most coveted statuette. Peter Farrelly was there, and later came out of Oscar night not only with the top prize, best picture for Green Book, but a win for best adapted screenplay. The film’s Mahershala Ali, who won best supporting actor, was also a GBK guest Free Solo’s (winner of best documentary) directors Chai Vasarhelyi  andJimmy Chin was also making the rounds at GBK’s festive event before Sunday’s big night.

The company says more than 20 nominees received gifts, including Bradley Cooper, Diane Warren, Paul Schrader, Pawel Pawilkowski and Nicole Holofcener.

Other celebrity guests included Viola Davis, Anthony Anderson, Craig Robinson, Adina Porter and Steven Bauer.

One of the highlights was caviar tasting provided by California Caviar Company, a leader in sustainably-farmed caviar and purveyor to top chefs. It was hard to choose among the six different varieties because they were all so delicious.

Among the vendors showcasing their products were Chaz Dean’s WEN hair and body care, AZN Labs with its blending of Korean beauty and Japanese technology in a new anti-aging serum, Bridgewater Candle Company, which donates part of its sales to feeding underprivileged children, Signature by BasicCare, which puts a new spin on basic beauty tools like tweezers, nail clippers and facial scrubbers, PlaneAire, which makes an ingenious, portable and organic antibacterial spray perfect for disinfecting airline tray tables and armrests, Silba Body and Skin Care, which uses only natural and non-toxic ingredients in its products, international star registry, which lets you name a star in a constellation and U.SK Under Skin, a premium derma-cosmetics brand which combines luxury and high performance in its skincare products.

Perhaps the gift attracting the most attention was Temi, the personal robot. This futuristic product – a robotic assistant perfect for a home or office – incorporates Alexa with an indoor navigation system, a high definition screen and speakers plus calling functions that move around with you.

But that Oscar statuette, better have Temi leave that on the mantle.
