Project Angel Food obviously knows food, since the Los Angeles-based nonprofit organization delivers 12,000 meals a week to people in need, focusing on those with life-threatening illnesses.

The organization also delivered with its latest fundraising event called “DELISH – party with culinary experiences” which was held Sunday night at the new Siren Cube at Siren Studios in Hollywood.

It was the second annual DELISH – a more casual companion to the long-standing annual fund-raising dinner held each summer in the organization’s Hollywood parking lot.

Guests got to sample an eclectic mix of food and beverage stations that served up a diverse assortment of dishes and drinks, with the help of culinary experts and skillful mixologists who assisted in mixing and matching the various selections available.

Some of our favorites included the mini spicy tuna rolls in rice paper served with peanut sauce from Century City’s Rock Sugar, which paired nicely with the new Drew Barrymore Pinot Grigio, which we are happy to hear is now available at retailers like Pavilions and BevMo.

And we were over the moon about Star King Korean BBQ beef short rib, acorn jelly salad and korean pancake paired with Jack Daniels/Early Times cinnamon liquer-blended whiskey, appropriately called Fire Eater, with a fabulous green tea cheesecake from The Cheesecake Dude.  We also got a chance to sample the pre-mixed Jack and Coke and Jack and ginger ale that come in individual-size bottles.

Other participating vendors: Activate Water, Art of Tea, Bird Pick Tea & Herb, Chambord, Dassai Sake, Deep Eddy Vodka, Early Times Fire Eater, El Jimador, Epicurean Events Los Angeles, First Crush Winemaking, Fluff Ice, Frosted Cupcakery, Golden Greek Produce, Handsome Coffee Roasters, Jack Daniels RTD, Jack Daniels Tennessee Honey, Kitchen 24, Lybations LLC, Marco Paolo Chocolates, Marino Ristorante, Mark & Stephen’s, Mwokaji Cakery, Pop Chips, Pretzel Crisps, Project Angel Food Bakers, Project Angel Food Kitchen Cabinet, The Shugah Mama, Tortilla Republic West Hollywood, Ventura Limoncello and World Empanadas.

This year’s event was hosted by Annabeth Gish from FX’s new hit drama series “The Bridge” and John Mcllwee and sponsored by Tortilla Republic West Hollywood, Brown-Forman Beverages and Time Warner Cable.

It featured a section just for kids 12 years and under where they could decorate aprons and chef hats and get treated to healthy snacks as well as lollipops and cupcakes. Project Angel Food partnered with Hasbro, which gave away Easy-Bake Ovens to the first 25 children through the door.

There were also many gourmet food items available for purchase at the pop-up Delish store and a portion of those proceeds benefited the charity and its meal preparation and delivery program.

DJ ID Required provided the music, and in keeping with the theme of the event, the beats were sweet.
