Inclusion is the Name of the Game in Directors Guild Noms for DGA Awards

Get OutNatalie Portman will not have to do any scolding on this one, as she did at the Golden Globe Awards when announcing the nominees for best film director. The Directors Guild of America (DGA) just released its nominations for outstanding directorial achievement in feature film– their top prize– and a woman finally made the list. Greta Gerwig is nominated for her semi-autobiographical film Lady Bird and Jordan Peele, who has also been overlooked on the directorial side this awards season was nominated for Get Out.

Peele also scored a nomination in the category for best first film, as did screenwriter Aaron Sorkin who directed Molly’s Game.

Steven Spielberg was again overlooked for The Post, his film starring Meryl Streep and Tom Hanks as Katherine Graham and Washington Post editor Ben Bradlee.
