Steve Jobs Man in the MachineIf you missed it in the theaters, now’s your chance to see the definitive documentary about Apple founder Steve Jobs by acclaimed director Alex Gibney.

Airing Sunday night on CNN, “Steve Jobs: The Man in the Machine” gives viewers a 360° view, complete with archival footage and rarely seen photos and videos of Jobs during media interviews he conducted before he became a household name.

The documentary chronicles his life and career from his early days as a Silicon Valley whiz kid with pal and business partner Steve Wozniak to his rise as CEO of one of the world’s premier companies, including his ouster from Apple and his triumphant return to the company, through his untimely death in 2011.

The international outpouring of grief upon his passing is what motivated Gibney to explore Jobs’ legacy, warts and all, and to deconstruct the mythology around him that gained him the status of the most publicly admired figure of the modern technology era.

Despite the huge amount of public recognition, Jobs’ private persona was somewhat inaccessible, but Gibney seeks to shed new insight with interviews from people close to Jobs during various stages of his life.

They include Chrisann Brennan, the mother of Lisa Jobs, Daniel Kottke, Jobs’ former roommate, university classmate and the 12th employee of Apple along with company executives Bob Belleville, Jon Rubenstein and Andy Grignon.

The documentary, which premiered at the 2015 SXSW Film Festival, also includes interviews with journalists who covered him over the years.

In addition to the 9 p.m. airing on Sunday, January 3 on CNN, the film can be seen via iPad, Apple TV, Roku and across CNN’s mobile platforms and will be on demand for a week via CNNgo. The broadcast encores on CNN Saturday, January 9 at 8 p.m.
