UCLA Mattel Childrens Hospital party at the Santa Monica pier
Everyone was wearing pretty much the same thing at the 19th annual UCLA Mattel Children’s Hospital party at the Santa Monica pier on Sunday – a big smile. And how could they not be grinning ear to ear with free run of the amusements at Pacific Park and tons of prizes provided by Mattel, and all for a good cause.
The hospital, which is part of the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center on the Westwood campus, provides state-of-the-art facilities to care for critically ill kids in a compassionate environment.
Proceeds from the event, chaired by Hillary Milken, will be used to fund high-priority programs for those children, on top of the $50 million that Mattel donated last year to the UCLA Foundation in order to expand the hospital’s services aimed at improving the health and well-being of children around the world.
Plenty of happy young faces were in the crowd taking part in the festivities, which included unlimited access to carnival games of skill, games of chance and of course, the popular Ferris wheel and other rides.
Also lending to the fun were the display of real-life, full size Hot Wheels cars, Barbie’s convertible, cookie decorating and a makeover station.
