Ardell Brow Tint is the DIY Bomb for Eyebrows

I’m going to admit it. I am not very good at DIY beauty treatments, which is why I leave them to the pros. Okay, I can do a pretty good job of a nail polish change– only if it’s a light color – and that’s about it.

I had just started getting my brows tinted at a Benefit salon on Montana Ave. in Santa Monica, one of only a handful of places that does the service. I figured this would obliterate the need for brow makeup and wanted to try it. Frankly, I wasn’t happy with their service. The tint was uneven and I had to go back and have the manager redo it. They also strong-arm you about tipping. Just overall not a pleasant experience but I did go 2-3 times before they shut it down, which was at the beginning of March.

In the interim, I’ve been using the Anastasia Dipbrow Gel, ($18 at Anastasia, and a mini for $9) which I really like. Unlike other brow gel products it does not leave your eyebrow hair stiff and with flaky residue all over them at the end of the day. It also comes in a vast array of shades. Highly recommend!

But I recently learned about Ardell’s at-home brow tint product and decided to give it a whirl. After all, I love their lashes!

The results were UNBELIEVABLE! Not only was it incredibly easy to use, mixing two different solutions– an activator gel and a tint powder– in a little tray and then applying with a spooli, but the results were absolutely incredible first time out! The instructions said to leave it on for 10 minutes but I let it sit for 14-15, and then removed it with a damp washcloth.

Wowza!!!!! First time out, I did a better job than the trained people at Benefit. It’s hard for me to even fathom because obviously products like this rely on the application as much as the efficacy of the product itself.

The kit, which runs about $15, says it’s enough for 12 applications but since you only use a tiny amount it could stretch to more, so let’s say this cost you about a buck a tint! A tint the company says lasts two weeks.

Think of how you could use your beauty budget elsewhere. Thank you, Ardell.
