‘Nomadland’ Scores Top Prize at the Producers Guild Awards

There’s a now famous line in the motion picture Nomadland:  “See you down the road.” After its win of the top prize at the 2021 Producers Guild Awards, there is no doubt we will be seeing the film win even more trophies down the road.

Written and directed by Chloe Zhao, Nomadland scored the Darryl F. Zanuck Award for Outstanding Producer of Theatrical Motion Pictures over nine competitors at the virtual ceremonies held March 24.

Since 1989, the winner of the PGA is also scored the best picture Oscar 21 out of 31 times.

Netflix’s The Crown and The Queen’s Gambit continued their winning ways at the PGAs, taking the top television prizes.

Presenters at the virtual ceremonies included Viola Davis, Daniel Kaluuya, Sacha Baron Cohen, Riz Ahmed, Darren Criss, Kaley Cuoco, Daveed Diggs, Gal Gadot, Mindy Kaling, Nicole Kidman, Sarah Jessica Parker, Amanda Seyfried, Paul Raci, Regina King, Eddie Redmayne, Lin-Manuel Miranda and Jurnee Smollett.

Tracee Ellis Ross emceed with opening and closing remarks and Anthony Mackie introduced the In Memoriam segment.
