Oscar nomination day was monumental for Sinners  The vampire epic shattered the record of most nominations for any one film with 16. Previously, only three films La La Land, All About Eve and Titanic had scored 14.

Among those nods were best director and best original screenplay for Ryan Coogler, acting nominations for Michal B. Jordan, Delroy Lindo and Wunmi Mosaku (all first-time nominations), score for composer Ludwig Göransson, who won the Oscar for Oppenheimer a few years ago  and casting for Francine Maisler.

Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another was second in the tally with 13 nominations, with nods for PTA as director and acting slots for Leonardo DiCaprio, Benicio del Toro, Teyana Taylor and Sean Penn..
