The SLS Hotel is normally a very adult place. But in the lead-up to the Kid’s Choice Awards, one wing of the hotel became VERY kid-friendly. That’s when GBK Productions took over a downstairs ballroom for a gifting suite to honor nominees, presenters and assorted celebs and VIPs with a cornucopia of products and services to please everyone from preschoolers to grownups.
LaToya Jackson came with her niece and nephews, Paris, Prince and Blanket. Although no photos were allowed, various vendors who met the Jackson progeny said they were adorable and exceptionally well-behaved. The same could be said for Molly Ringwald’s cute daughter who was making the rounds as her red-haired mom got a glitter tattoo from Glimmer Body Art.
Other guests at the two-day event included Kara DioGuardi, Stephanie Pratt, Aubrey O’Day and Modern Family’s Rico Rodriguez.
Lots of fun beauty and grooming items on display, in addition to those glitter tattoos. There were feather hair extensions from Featherheads, nail decals and artificial nails in wild patterns from Broadway Nails, manicures using OPI’s new Katy Perry line from the Nail Garden, Maximum Lash high performance lash conditioner, hair products for kids from Monkey Brains and Hello Kitty, iCarly and Disney Princess young girl cosmetics from Townley.
The boys got their hands vintage tees from O’Quinn clothing and on goods from Hasbro, Improv Electronics and Ballpark Classics. And all the kids went nuts for Gogo’s Crazy Bones, mini-collectable figurines with endless game-playing possibilities and the Mobo Cruiser, a luxury three-wheeler that guests were free to take a spin around the room.
Fashionable footwear went eco with stylish sandals made of recycled tires (the bottoms, at least) from Gabrielle Alexander. The trendy sandals with cloth uppers in bold colors and fun patterns look to be a big trend this summer.
The last stop just had to be the Sweet Spot’s delectable candy buffet, where something as simple as rainbow colored gummi bears could bring a smile to a kid’s face.
