It was a scene reminiscent of some of the best-known retail sales of high-end merchandise: hundreds of women shopping for designer handbags. This sale was all for a good cause, benefiting Lupus LA, which hosted the 10th Annual Hollywood Bag Ladies Luncheon at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills.
The event, which attracted about 500 guests, is known for its highly anticipated silent handbag auction. This year, about 350 bags were donated by brands like Burberry, Jimmy Choo, Rebecca Minkoff, Fendi, Prada, and Versace, and straight from the closets of celebrities like Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Sharon Stone, Nikki Reed, Brittany Snow and Zoe Saldana.
Adding to the total raised from this event–$360,000– was a live auction emceed by Ms. Stone, who is known as a killer auctioneer who raises a lot of money for causes close to her heart.
She auctioned off Carla Fendi’s one-of-a-kind signed makeup bag, which went for about $3,000, a plum ostrich Tiffany hobo handbag which Toni Braxton bought for $4,400 and a five day stay at New York fashion week this coming February, which went for $6,000 and includes a stay at The London NYC, dinner for two at Le Cirque and tickets to the runway shows for Oscar de la Renta, Tadashi Shoji and Charlotte Ronson.
Speaking of fashion, designer Kevin Hall put on a runway show for the guests that included gorgeous cocktail dresses and gowns from his latest collection. Hall also donated a $900 silk scarf from his collection for one of the live auction packages.
The Kardashians also showed support for Lupus LA by donating a ‘Live Like a Kardashian’ package for the live auction, which included a meet and greet with the Kardashians, hair and make-up by their personal glam squad and a fashion photo shoot with the family. Their donation raised $3,500 for Lupus LA.
Guests included Stone’s mother, her sister Kelly and Braxton, both of whom have Lupus, and Brittny and Lisa Gastineau, Angie Everhart, Meredith Monroe, Danica McKellar, Sharon Jones, LisaRaye McCoy, Kellie Martin, Gloria Allred and Marla Gibbs.
