The Queen of Hollywood
Cleopatra was one of the most enigmatic women in history, but could she have ever envisioned her stunning, smoldering visage gracing the entryway of one of LA’s hottest new restaurants? Cleo is the focal point of the new Redbury Hotel in the heart of Hollywood, and energy emanating from the place joins that from other nearby establishments in revitalizing what was once a downtrodden area that had seen better days. Now the future looks bright with this latest entry from Sam Nazarian’s SBE, the folks behind the SLS, XIV and Katsuya. This is an entirely different concept: Mediterranean-style tapas served family-style in a casual atmosphere. Start off with homemade bread served hot with dips like baba ganoush and continue with the arugula flatbread, grilled meats, chicken and seafood with a wide selection of vegetarian dishes. Things start to get really lively around 9 p.m., meaning the place gets jam-packed. So if you want to eat in a bit more quiet, reserve before then. Someone will be breaking plates later on in the evening—a Greek tradition made into a nightly funfest.
