On a leafy residential stretch of Beverly Hills, away from the congestion of studio lots and hotel ballrooms, producer Debbie Durkin convened her 19th annual ECOLUXE Pre-Oscars Luxury Lounge, a daytime gathering that has steadily carved out its own identity on the awards season circuit.
Held March 13 and benefiting Wagmor Pets Dog Rescue, the invitation-only event blended sustainability-minded brands with a philanthropic throughline, as rescue dogs—many available for adoption—circulated alongside actors, media figures, and industry guests.
Durkin’s ECOLUXE events have long leaned into the intersection of conscious consumerism and Hollywood visibility, and this year’s edition continued that approach with a mix of beauty, wellness, fashion, and culinary activations staged throughout the private residence. A pop-up portrait studio by celebrity photographer David Christopher Lee became a focal point, with guests posing not only solo but often alongside the adoptable animals, reinforcing the event’s charitable emphasis.
Culinary offerings reflected a curated, international sensibility. Japanese cuisine from Asakura, led by owner Makoto Okamoto and sous chef Masaki Ishiba, anchored the menu with a selection of small plates, while 85°C Bakery Cafe supplied matcha beverages and pastries that kept foot traffic steady throughout the afternoon. Beverage partners ranged from 7 Deseos Mezcal and Don Felix Tequila to Above Board Liqueurs, with non-alcoholic options from Tipsy AF underscoring the wellness component that has become increasingly central to gifting lounges.
Fashion activations balanced style with functionality. Fayah Athletics introduced its latest collection of sunglasses and menswear, along with the debut of its FAYAH x ADURA luxury golfwear line and faux fur outerwear. Nearby, Pet Couture by Minky Couture staged a portrait-driven installation featuring plush pet beds and vests modeled by the rescue dogs themselves, merging branding with the event’s adoption mission.
Gift bags for VIP attendees leaned heavily into lifestyle and wellness, including products from TIDL Sport—founded by Conor McGregor—alongside Everyday Dose and Marcy’s Pet Kitchen, plus educational materials from Idyllwild Arts Academy. Additional brands such as Cass Candles CHC rounded out the experience, emphasizing smaller-scale, sustainability-oriented businesses.
The guest list reflected a mix of television, film, and media personalities. Among those attending were Jillian Bell, known for her comedic work and past stint on Saturday Night Live, and Emmy-winning actor Obba Babatundé. Television host Lawrence Zarian and his twin brother Gregory Zarian moved through the event alongside Porscha Coleman of BET’s “Divorced Sistas” and Najee De-Tiege, recognized for roles in “Power Rangers Samurai” and “The Bay.”
Genre and franchise fare were represented by Joseph Gatt (“Game of Thrones”, “Dumbo”, “Star Trek Into Darkness”), while family ensembles turned out in force, including Juju Brener (“Hocus Pocus 2”), Shirly Brener, and Mila Brener. Media personalities such as Madison Brodsky added to the hosting contingent, alongside former NFL player Matt Vanderbeek, whose pro career included time with the Indianapolis Colts, Dallas Cowboys, and Washington Redskins.
Kentaro Kameyama, the Season 16 winner of Project Runway, made the rounds, while actor Michael Hillberg rounded out the mix of attendees circulating between activations.
Now in its 19th year, the ECOLUXE lounge continues to position itself as a quieter counterpoint to the more spectacle-driven Oscar-week events—one where sustainability messaging, emerging brands, and animal rescue advocacy share equal footing with the usual awards-season networking.
