Costume Designers Guild Noms Boost Lincoln, Argo, Les Miz, Zero Dark Thirty and Skyfall

It’s a rare period film in which the costumes of the characters are not an integral part of the viewing experience, and this season’s crop of awards contenders are no conception to the rule.

 

The costume designers of Lincoln, Les Miserables, Argo, Anna Karenina and Moonrise Kingdom were among those honored with nominations from the Costume Designers Guild, which will present its 15th annual awards ceremony

on February 19 at the Beverly Hilton.

 

It is considered to be one of the most prestigious and well-respected entertainment industry events during awards season, celebrating the spirit of collaboration between costume designers and the actors and directors with whom they work.

 

In addition to period film, the CDGAs celebrate excellence in contemporary film, television and commercial costume design.

LaCoste is returning for the third year as Presenting Sponsor of the CDG Awards and will present its Spotlight Award will be presented to one of the early winners this awards season, Oscar-nominated actress Anne Hathaway, who has wowed audiences in her role as the tragic Fantine in Les Miserables.

Instead of making people cry, he’s known for making them laugh and producer, writer, comedian and creator of Saturday Night Live, Lorne Michaels, will receive the Distinguished Collaborator Award.

Honorary Career Achievement Awards will be presented to costume designers Judianna Makovsky and Eduardo Castro for their outstanding work in film and television.
