Beyoncé broke the Grammy record for most wins, but Harry Styles took the top prize

It was a big night for Beyoncé at the 65th Grammy Awards as she claimed the record for the most-ever Grammys awarded to a single individual – 32.

“I’m trying not to be too emotional,” she said as she accepted her fourth award of the evening Sunday, for dance/electronic music album “Renaissance.”

Yet somehow Beyoncé was again shut out of the marquee awards of album of the year, song of the year and record of the year.

Album of the year went to Harry Styles for his “Harry’s House,” which caused some Grammy watchers to grouse, “Where’s Kanye when you need him?”– alluding to his infamous stage-crash of Taylor Swift when she won a best video award over Beyoncé at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards.

Still, the night was filled with celebratory moments and memorable performances including the 50th anniversary celebration of hip-hop, introduced by LL Cool J and featuring everyone from Queen Latifah to Run-DMC, Public Enemy, Jazzy Jeff, Ice-T, Missy Elliott, Method Man, De La Soul and Busta Rhymes.

The show, broadcast on CBS and hosted by Trevor Noah, began with performances by Bad Bunny and Belinda Carlile, both of whom also took home statuettes.

The stirring In Memoriam segment to those we lost during the past year featured performances by Kacey Musgrave, in tribute to Loretta Lynn, Sheryl Crow, Bonnie Raitt and Mick Fleetwood honoring Christine McVie and Migos rapper Quavo paying tribute to his late bandmate Takeoff.

Lizzo jubilantly accepted the Grammy for record of the year for “About Damn Time” and Bonnie Raitt won for song of the year with “Just like That.”

Kim Petras made history as the first trans person to win a Grammy for “Unholy,” her song with Sam Smith, which took the prize for pop duo/group performance.

Adele won pop solo performance for “Easy on Me.”

In the coveted prize for new artist, jazz singer Samara Joy took home the Grammy over a field that included Wet Leg, Anitta, Omar Apollo, DOMi & JD Beck, Muni Long, Latto, Måneskin, Tobe Nwigwe, and Molly Tuttle.

The 3 ½ hour broadcast concluded with an epic performance outside LA’s Crypto.com arena with DJ Khaled bringing a Last Supper-inspired version of “God Did,” featuring Jay-Z, Rick Ross, Lil Wayne, John Legend and Fridayy.
